Background | This gene encodes a leucine-rich transmembrane glycoprotein that may be involved in cell adhesion. The encoded protein is an oncofetal antigen that is specific to trophoblast cells. In adults this protein is highly expressed in many tumor cells and is associated with poor clinical outcome in numerous cancers. Alternate splicing in the 5' UTR results in multiple transcript variants that encode the same protein. |

(A) DME100139 does weakly bind to Jurkat cells that do not express 5T4.
(B) A clear peak shift of DME100139 was seen compared to the control when incubated with 5T4-expressing MCF-7 cells, indicating strong binding of DME100139 to 5T4. Antibodies were incubated at 10 μg/mL.
